Sending Money
You can use the kiosk in the McDowell Juvenile Detention Center lobby to deposit funds into an inmate's commissary account. The kiosk is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The kiosk accepts cash, Visa, Discover, and Mastercard’s.

Phone calls
Inmates at McDowell Juvenile Detention Center are not permitted to receive incoming phone calls. The jail staff won't take any messages for the inmates either.
The jail supplies phones for the inmates to use. The inmates are allowed to make prepaid collect, prepaid calling cards and collect calls.
For their phone service, the McDowell Juvenile Detention Center contracts with Pay Tel Communication. Inmates are allowed to talk for 20-minute increments at a time. The call will be disconnected when the 20-minutes is over.
The inmates at Dyer County have access to their Pay Tel Communication account. However, they do not have access to the internet.
The Pay Tel Communication account allows inmates the ability to message their friends and family back home, so it's more than just a phone service. There is a fee associated with this service.
Visiting Rules
There is no guaranteed on any visits. It is up to the Dyer County Sheriff to either approve or deny visits.
15 minutes before your visitation time you need to get to the jail.
Personal belongings are not permitted in the visitation area so make sure you leave all your personal belongings in your car. Visitors will be searched and must follow a strict dress code.
The jail staff can refuse a visitation for any reason.
