Sending a Mail/Care Package

The Oneida County Jail Inmates can receive written letters from their friends and family. For safety reasons, all letters are checked by jail staff upon arrival. The jail staff will pass the mail out to the correct inmates after the staff checks the mail. 

There are of numerous things you should not send when sending items to the prison along with your letter. Here is the list below:

Sending Money

In order to make purchases from the commissary, the inmates at the Oneida County Jail will need money. You are allowed to send a cashier’s check or a money order straight to the Oneida County Jail, if you would like to fund an inmate's account. You will have to make the money payable to the inmate's name.

You will need to make sure you have a return address on the envelope if you decide to send checks or money orders by mail. Money orders will take a few days to be deposited into the inmate’s bank account. 

Phone calls

The Oneida County Jail inmates are not allowed to receive phone calls from their family or friends. Although, during their phone time, inmates are allowed to make phone calls to their friends and family. The inmates are limited to 15-minute calls. The call will be disconnected when the 15 minutes is up. 

Calling features such as three-way calling and call forwarding are not allowed for the inmates to use. Immediately, the call will be terminated if an inmate is caught using these features. and disciplinary action will be taken up against the inmate. 

The Oneida County Jail inmate are allowed to make only collect calls. Inmates are only permitted to call those who have a landline. Those who only have cell phones won't t be able to take these collect calls. The individual that is receiving the collect call is the one responsible for any and all charges from this call. The Oneida County Jail isn't responsible for any charges from any collect calls.

The Oneida County Jail inmates do not have access to the internet. To communicate with friends and family, the inmates at the Oneida County Jail do not have access to any electronic messaging systems that they can use. You will have to send an inmate a written letter to the address above if you would like to stay in touch with them.

Visiting Rules

The Oneida County Jail inmates can receive visitors. All visitors under the age of 18 are allowed to visit, however, they will need to be with their legal guardian. Before you are allowed to visit, you will have to have either your driver’s license, state identification card or your United States Passport. 

No personal belongings are allowed in the visitation area so make sure you put all your personal belongings in your car.
