The Reno Jail is a minimum-security detention center for adults that opened in the year of 1984.
Those who are arrested within the city limits are taken to the Reno Jail where they are processed at the intake. This is where the offenders are fingerprinted and booked. Offenders are housed in single-person cells and are provided with three meals a day.
The Reno Jail is a short term facility so the offenders are transported to the county jail if they are denied bail. However, a majority of the arrestees within this facility are eligible for bail.
The prison is operated and maintained by Nevada Department of Corrections (DOC)
