Sending a Mail/Care Package

At the Lake County Jail inmates can receive written letters from their friends and family. For safety reasons, all letters will be examined by jail staff upon arrival. The jail staff will pass the mail to the correct inmates after the letters are checked..

There are some things that inmates aren't allowed to receive so make sure you don't send any of these things. Here is a list of things inmates are not allowed to receive:

Inmates can receive paperback books, magazines, and newspapers. These items are required to be sent directly to the jail from the publisher or bookstore.  All books must be paperback and new. All used and hardcover books are not allowed. If a hardcover or used book is sent, it will be sent back to the sender.

Sending Money

Lake County Jail the inmates will need money, so they make phone calls to loved ones and buy items in the commissary. Using the barcode on their armbands inmates have access to their funds

You will need an inmate's name and their booking number to make a deposit in their account. There is a kiosk in the jail lobby you can use. There are a couple of ways to deposit money online from the comfort of your own home. First is CashPayToday.com. There is a $5 fee with that one. Then there is inmatedeposit.com. The fee for that one is $2.95. You can also make a deposit by calling 1-866-345-1884. The fee for that one is $3.95

Phone calls

For their phone service the Lake County Jail contracts with Securus Technologies. You will need to create an account by logging on to the Securus Technologies official website. That is where you will see the options for depositing money into the inmate’s phone account and you will be able to see the fees there as well.

15-minute phone calls is what the inmates are allowed. Three-way calls, call waiting, call forwarding and other calling features are not permitted for the inmates. The call will be terminated immediately If an inmate found using these features. 

All calls are monitored or recorded.

Email

Lake County Jail inmates don't have access to the internet or any other electronic messaging systems to communicate with friends and family. You will need to send them a written letter to the address above if you would like to stay in touch with an inmate at the Lake County Jail.

Visiting Rules

You will receive a visitor slip, that you will fill out when you arrive to the Lake County Jail. The inmate’s booking number and their tank location will be on the slip.

Before you will be taken back to the visitation area you will go through the metal detector. You are not allowed to bring any personal belongings with you to the jail so make sure you leave everything in you car.

However you will need a photo identification card to visit an inmate so make sure you take that with you. You can use a state identification card, your drivers license or your U.S. passport

Tuesday and Friday: Inmates with last names M-Z (Children under age of 17 are NOT permitted)
