About Indiana State Prison

The Indiana State prison was established in 1860 and is located at 1 Park Row Michigan City, IN. It is a minimum and maximum level facility with cell space, dormitory spaces, and male death row facility.

Inmate Search

Although you will most likely receive a call from your inmate letting you know where they will be serving their time, it is always a good idea to do an inmate search to get pertinent information as well as to ensure the person is there.

Sending Mail and Money

You will be allowed to send both mail and money to an inmate within the Indiana State Prison.

Mail

To send mail to an offender, you will need their DOC number, name, and address of the facility where they are housed. Use the example below to mail your correspondence, or it will be returned.

Money

The only way to send money is using the online system called JPay. You will simply click, here to be transferred to JPay and then follow the prompts to send your inmate money. You can then deposit money into an inmate’s commissary account via credit or debit card.

Visiting an Inmate

To visit an inmate, you will need to be signed in  to the facility 1 hour and 15 minutes before the lasting visiting schedule. To find out about visitation and hours call 219-874-7256, press #.
