There is also a medical holding facility for women, 208 beds, a recreational area, and the facility is now handicap accessible due to the renovation and addition.
New offices, visitation, and booking areas, and a new vehicle sally port addition have been added and renovated from the existing facility as well.
38 modular steel cell units, security hardware & locking devices, security hollow metal, security glazing, detention furniture, security mesh, mezzanines & stairs, and detention accessories were installed in the renovation as well.
When an inmate first arrives at the Posey County Jail they are taken to the intake where they are held with other inmates in a large holding cell with other inmates at the intake. Inmates that cannot control themselves and are violent are segregated.
