Ever since the early 1800's the Saline County Sheriff’s Department manages and operates the Saline County Law Enforcement and Detention Center.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

The Saline County Law Enforcement and Detention Center inmates are allowed to get written letters in the mail from their family and friends. All letters that are sent to the jail are checked by the jail employees before they are handed out to the inmates. 

There are a number of items that you are not allowed to send in the mail along with your written letters. Items not permitted to be sent to the jail are listed below:

Inmates in the Saline County Law Enforcement and Detention Center are allowed to get books, newspaper and magazines sent to them. All books, newspaper and magazines will need to be sent straight from the publisher or the bookstore to the jail. You are allowed to have these items sent from Amazon. All books that are sent to the jail will need to be new and paperback. All used and hardcover books are not allowed. All used and hardcover books that are sent, will get sent back to the sender.

Sending Money

In order for an inmate to make purchases at the commissary, they will need their account funded. If you would like to fund an inmate's account you can send a money order in the mail.  Only Postal Money Orders and Western Union Money Orders are accepted. Make sure the money orders are payable to the inmate you are funding.   

There is a Kiosk in the jail lobby that you can use to transfer funds into an inmate's account. Cash, credit, or debit card payments can be used at the kiosk. However, there is a charge to use this service.  

Phone calls

For the phone service the Saline County Law Enforcement and Detention Center uses Securus Technologies. You will need to create an account by logging on to the Securus Technologies official website. You can see the charges and the options for depositing funds into the inmate’s phone account over there.

The Saline County Law Enforcement and Detention Center inmates are allowed to only make collect phone calls. You will only be able to receive a collect call from an inmate from a landline phone. However, you will not be able to receive any collect calls from a mobile phone. The individual receiving the collect call is the one responsible for and all fees associated with the collect calls. The Saline County Law Enforcement and Detention Center is not accountable for any and all charges associated with the collect calls.  

The inmates are limited to 15-minute phone calls. The call will get terminated as soon as the 15-minutes is over. Calling features such as three-way calling and call forwarding are forbidden for the inmates to use. If an inmate is caught using any of these features the call will get disconnected and disciplinary action will be taken up against the inmate. 

All calls will be monitored and/or recorded.

Email

The Saline County Law Enforcement and Detention Center inmates do not have a way to get onto the internet. The inmates do not have a way to keep in touch with friends and family using any electronic messaging systems.  You will need to send them a written letter to the address listed above if you would like to keep in touch with an inmate in the Saline County Law Enforcement and Detention Center. 

Visiting Rules

The Saline County Law Enforcement and Detention Center inmates are allowed to get visitors. The Saline County Law Enforcement and Detention Center views visitations as a privilege and not a right. The visitation schedule is not given by the jail. In order to see if an inmate can have visitations, you will need to check the database.  

The inmate will need to let their visitors know their visitation schedule. 

Minors must be with their legal guardian. Minors are not to be left in the lobby while their legal guardian visits without them.  

Make sure you leave all your personal belongings in your vehicle. Any personal belongings are not allowed in the visitation area. Only your picture ID and your car keys are permitted in the visitation area. You will need to present your driver’s license, United States Passport, or your state identification card before you are allowed in the visitation area. 

Make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before your visitation. Every visit will only last 30 minutes at the most.
