Henry County Youth Center is for juveniles that are awaiting court dates or placement in a residential facility and provides supervision of youth in a safe, secure and humane environment. This facility holds youth that has violated an Indiana Statue, which means if that same act were committed by an adult, would not be a violation of the law. There are five status offenses within the Indiana law.

1. Truancy
2. Incorrigible
3. Runaway
4. Behavior or affiliations injurious to the welfare of the child
5. A child is charged with an offense not classified as criminal or relevant only to children.

Henry County Youth Center provides the following services and programs for the residents:

• Medical Health Care
• Substance Abuse Programs

Medical and mental care are services that are contracted out. The Department of Education Funds the education programs through the local schools.

On any given day in secure detention at the Henry County Youth Center includes the following:

• Hygiene
• Meals
• School
• Structured Physical Activities
• Educational Activities
• Court appearance as scheduled

Ten days is about the average amount of time in secure detention.

This facility is within the jurisdiction of the Henry County Juvenile Justice System and holds youth between the ages of 10 to 17.
